ENT operations
This is an outline of the commonest general anaesthetic ENT procedures I perform.
I do not carry out cosmetic septorhinoplasties or mastoid surgery.
1
Thyroidectomy
If you have a large benign lump or a cancerous lump in the thyroid, surgery to remove either half or all of the thyroid gland may be recommended. Surgery is not recommended for small benign nodules.
2
Septoplasty
This is an operation to straighten the cartilaginous and bony division(septum) between your two nostrils. A deviated septum often causes nasasl blockage that is not helped by using nasal steroid sprays.
3
Endoscopic sinus surgery
This is an operation to either remove nasal polyps or improve sinus drainage and helps people who have tried topical nasal medication and found it ineffective.
4
Microlaryngoscopy/panendoscopy
This is a procedure to examine the voice box and throat under a general anaesthetic. This procedure is mainly used to make a diagnosis but voice box problems such as polyps and warts can also be removed at the same time.
Let's Work Together
Undergoing surgery is a significant event in your life. We will always discuss the options and alternatives before proceeding with any invasive procedure that may have risks. If you have any questions or doubts- just ask!
